Literacy and Langauge
Maria Montessori advocated babies’ exposure to the spoken word used in the context of everyday life. She recognized adults’ role in promoting rich vocabulary and grammatically correct use of language.
CHILDREN LEARN TO RECOGNIZE SOUNDS, BLEND THEM TO FORM WORDS, AND DEVELOP THEIR WRITING SKILLS.

BENEFITS
She introduced phonics because it gave young children
- the opportunity to encode words using the one to one correspondence between the phonemes and graphemes, between the letter sounds and shapes.
- All elements of the Montessori language Programme provide children with a platform for building self-confidence and using language creatively across a variety of modes of communication.
- Children also have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of age-appropriate books.
